in Monte Carlo
The World Championship Backgammon finds it roots in 1967, as the first big backgammon tournament was being held in Las Vegas.
The tournament would stay in the gambling city untill 1975, when the championship moved to the Bahamas. From 1979 untill now,
the tournament is located in Monte Carlo at the prestigious The Fairmont Monte Carlo, formerly known as Grand Hotel. The
tournament is officially called 'The World Championship' since 1976.
